:
( 1996 )This interactive Digital “toy” was a part of the Spring-Loaded Software
concept that used objects and physics to simulate and expand the elastic
nature of actual toys on the market. In this example, kids could build and
edit their own 3D rides, much like building your own “Mr. Toads Wild Ride”
and then having the ability to race through it or against another player.
The simple interface and thematic model allowed for literally thousands
of possible tracks and rides. Each track piece could contain it’s own “theme”, thus the music, environment and characters would retain characteristics specific to thier own. This modular design gave it a “tweak and play” feel and introduced concepts of both digital toy and an action playset. |
